Since Harilaos Trikoupis' vision when he was Prime Minister of Greece one hundred years ago, Greece had the great dream of a bridge crossing the 3 km Corinth Gulf strait.
In 2004, a long-standing dream will become reality:
First, the bridge has to span a stretch of water of some 2,500 meters.
Moreover the physical features of the strait present an exceptional combination of adverse conditions, which makes this project unique:
* water depth up to 65 meters,
* absence of stiff seabed subsoil,
* strong seismic activity
* and possible tectonic movements.
